A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 (1985)

What separates A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy’s Revenge (1985) from the rest of the films in the slasher franchise? Well, unlike A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988), A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989), Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991), Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994), and Freddy vs. Jason (2003), this flick was dubbed “the gayest horror film ever” due to speculation that the cult classic’s lead character is a repressed homosexual. In other words, Jack Sholder’s R rated installment finds Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) attempting to possess the body of high school hunk Jesse Walsh (Mark Patton). Once the teen and his family (Hope Lange, Clu Gulager, and Christie Clark) have moved into the Elm Street house, Mr. Patton is intriguingly homoerotic throughout the story. For starters, he shows off his nude booty when a locker room bully pulls down his pants just 10 minutes into the movie. Nothing scary about that! The cast of characters also includes Lisa Webber (Kim Myers), Ron Grady (Robert Rusler), Kerry Hellman (Sydney Walsh), and Coach Schneider (Marshall Bell). The latter dude bares his back and bum when Freddy goes S&M on his naked frame during a locker room shower scene at the thriller’s 36-minute mark. Needless to say, Bell is dead sexy! Considering the sweet meat on display, Freddy’s Revenge doesn’t sound like much of a nightmare to us!
