Having joined a Tibetan monastery, Ace Ventura is less than reluctantly relieved of his quest for inner peace, and sent to Africa to track down an elusive white bat. Written and directed by Steve Oedekerk, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995) was one of the rare sequels that actually made more money than the original. Rushed into production and released just a year after its originator, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), When Nature Calls was panned by critics. But after taking home $212.3 million from a $30 million budget – and winning the hearts of Ventura fans once again – it’s a surprise they didn’t place Ace on another case again until the poorly received - and Jim Carrey lacking - Ace Ventura, Jr.: Pet Detective (2009). Nature Calls is not only the second film in the series, but it’s also the sexiest. For fans of Jim, it sings like a hymn when they see him and each trim limb. When a reconnaissance mission has Carrey operating a life-sized robotic rhino from the inside, the temperature will start to rise when his A/C malfunctions under the hot desert sun. The scene gets hot in more ways than one when Jim starts to strip it off, layer by layer. Soon a fully nude Ace is birthing himself out of the fake rhino gyno. Onlookers were horrified, but home viewers were horn-ified. The second Ace takes first place.
