Biography

With his cut jaw and his knowing smirk, Andrew Hall, his silver fox status, and his surprisingly pert bare butt are the stuff of dreams as the character simply known as “The Gentleman” in 2017 episodes of the Syfy TV series Blood Drive (and that’s close to a record for an opening statement for Mr. Man, hitting a whopping 43 words – wait, 65 words now!). Anyway, the terribly British Andrew was born in Manchester, and nabbed his first long-term role playing Russell Parkinson in the UK series Butterflies from 1978-1983, as well as the accompanying TV movie, The Funny Side of Christmas (1982). His next longest-running part was in the famous Brit show Coronation Street, in the role of Marcy Selby for 41 episodes in 2011. In between, he did pop-ups in various TV series, including EastEndersDoctorsCasualtyHolby City, and Hollyoaks, hitting all the big ones. There were also his roles as Dave Spencer in Children’s Ward in 1989, Mr. Compton on Lucy Sullivan Is Getting Married in 1999, and Billy Graham in Nixon’s the One in 2013. While the bulk of his career has been on the little screen, there are a few big-screen projects, including one noteworthy one with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Dougray Scott called The Truth About Love (2005), where Andrew was John Stride. In 2018, he appeared in the movie Kill Ben Lyk, playing one of several characters with the title name. This was his last acting gig, as Andrew died of cancer in England the following year.
