Biography

Anthem Moss seems like a made-up name, and it kind of is. Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, as Anthimos Ananiadis, the actor must have thought it was a mouthful, and he shortened and twisted it to come up with Anthem Moss. And speaking of a mouthful… In the short film Foreign Relations (2014), a US, Greece, and Croatia project, Anthem played the role of tough-talking Niko, an uncircumcised male who would like to study what a circumcised penis looks like. He shares his privates in flashes behind a way-too-tiny washrag—and let Mr. Man just say that Anthem is perfectly proportioned everywhere. The actor studied at the National Drama School of Athens and the New York Film Academy, and has been going back and forth between Hollywood and Greece, appearing in productions for both countries. In Greece, he’s known for his roles as Angel in Kryfa Monopatia, aka Hidden Paths, in 2005; for playing Alexis Mantas for 328 episodes of Maria I ashimi, the Greek version of Ugly Betty, from 2007-2008; and for starring as Giannis in the successful film Straight Story(2006), a comedy, drama, romance “where being homosexual is considered ‘normal’ and heterosexual is considered ‘not normal,’” according to IMDb. In the US, he was a panty-wearing Joel in 1,001 Ways to Enjoy the Mission Position (2010) with Amanda Plummer and the girl who played Cindy on Freaks and Geeks, and Geo in My Earl Gray (2023). Oh, and lest you think of him as only a pretty face and hot bod, he also wrote the film The Greek Job (2023), for Greece, which he also directs and stars in next to Eric Roberts and Costas Mandylor.
