Movie goers know Sir Anthony Hopkins for his Oscar-winning turn as Hannibal Lecter in the horror flick The Silence of the Lambs (1991). The American Film Institute ranked the character as the number one film villain of all time! With nearly 150 credits to his name as well as an abundance of accolades (including his second Academy Award for 2020’s The Father), Anthony is gold on the silver screen! Decades ago, the Welsh thespian trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Once Tony was discovered by Sir Laurence Olivier, he became a prestigious pro. In fact, it didn’t take long for Sir Richard Attenborough, who directed Hopkins in five films, to dub him “the greatest actor of his generation.” Sir Anthony’s extensive career includes work in the theater (King Lear), in motion pictures (The Elephant Man, The Remains of the Day, Howards End) and on television (War and Peace, Westworld). Through the years, the esteemed performer has portrayed everyone from Richard the Lionheart in The Lion in Winter (1968) to Professor Van Helsing in Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992) directed by Francis Ford Coppola. While playing the titular character in Julie Taymor’s skinematic adaptation of the Shakespearean play Titus (1999), Tony displayed his naked T&A! What a way to upstage his younger co-stars Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Matthew Rhys and Alan Cumming. With the R-rated thriller The Human Stain (2003), Tony and Nicole Kidman appear topless together. Hopkins then went bottomless in Beowulf (2007). No wonder, he’s known for his wide range!
