Beau Brummell: This Charming Man (2005)

A witty, penniless yet dapper Beau Brummell (2006) enjoys a lifestyle he can’t possibly afford.  Only the friendship of the unpopular George, Prince of Whales keeps the creditors away from him and his faithful companion/servant/cook Robinson.  Not able to leave well enough alone, Beau gets involved in a love triangle with a lady and a poet that causes the Prince to kick him to the curb.  Now Beau has to figure a way to handle his debt and keep up his lifestyle.

This BBC period drama is heavy on costumes dapper gentlemen and the invention of trousers, but light on dropping them.  We do ascend to the throne of nudity with a quick but thorough shot from behind of Beau (James Purefoy) looking out a window and later while he shaves his face, we get to admire the reflected image of his butt in a mirror. Dandy indeed!
