Blown Away (1994)

Get ready for a lot of explosions in the action thriller Blown Away (1994). Tommy Lee Jones co-stars as Ryan Gaerity, a dangerous Irish terrorist that has recently escaped from his cell in Northern Ireland by transforming his shitter into a bomb. On the other end of the world is Lt. Jimmy Dove (Jeff Bridges), a veteran member of the Boston bomb squad that is inching closer to retirement. Even though Jimmy has been on the police force for years, no one, except his uncle Max (Lloyd Bridges), knows that he has a dark past as Liam McGivney, a former member of a Northern Ireland terrorist cell and a one-time buddy of toilet bomber Gaerity.

It seems as though years ago, a botched bomb attempt by Liam and Ryan led to the imprisonment of Gaerity and the death of Jimmy/Liam’s girlfriend, his bombing buddy’s sister. To escape the heat, Liam hit the U.S., became Jimmy, and used his explosive skills to fight evil. As one can imagine, Gaerity’s explosive escape lights the fuse of revenge and he catches the next flight to Boston to seek out and taunt Jimmy. While chaos hits the streets of Boston, Anthony Franklin (Forest Whitaker) an inquisitive detective actually starts to piece together the connection between Ryan and Jimmy.

In between all the explosions and intrigue, Jeff Bridges manages to show off his manly physique while teasing some butt crack while babbling on the phone. Now that’s a body that would blow anyone away!
