Biography

The late Brandon Lee left us too soon during a firearms accident while filming his fifth and most famous film, the supernatural action adventure The Crow (1994). The movie won the actor a ton of rave reviews, making it all the more tragic, as he went to the great beyond just as he was stretching his acting muscles along with all the rest of his  well-defined body. The Crow was released posthumously (Brandon passed in March 1993 at the age of 28), with Brandon’s stunt double and a few special effects filling in for the action star's absence. (Mr. Man is pausing for a moment of silence; you can, too.) Sigh. Before that tragic turn, Brandon enjoyed a promising career as an actor and martial artist. (When you're the son of Bruce Lee, as Brandon was, kung fu is in your blood.) His first big on-camera role was a supporting role as Chung Wang in the awesomely titled 1986 television film Kung Fu: The Movie (1986). That same year, he did his one and only movie in Hong Kong, Long zai jiang hu (1986), aka Legacy of Rage. For his role as Brandon Ma, he won a nomination for Best New Performer at the Hong Kong Film Awards. He also appeared on the big screen as Michael Gold in Laser Mission(1989) with Ernest Borgnine, playing Johnny Murata in Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991) with Dolph Lundgren, and in the role of Jake Lo in Rapid Fire (1992) with Powers Boothe. Brandon left behind an impressive body of work as well as one hell of a body, captured most beautifully in Little Tokyo, where you can play count the abs—and it will take a long time. Gone, but definitely not forgotten.
