Set in the 1980s, the crime drama Brazilian Western (2013) is based off of the epic post-punk rock fable of Brazilian singer/songwriter Renato Russo. The film follows João de Santo Cristo (Fabrício Boliveira) an imprisoned fellow doing time for killing the dude who murdered his father. After João serves out his sentence, he heads out to Brasília to look for a job and his weed-dealing cousin Pablo (César Troncoso). After Pablo offers the ex-con a job and cash to deliver his illegal goods to an upper class neighborhood, it’s only a matter of time before João catches the ire of the Jeremias (Felipe Abib), a crazy drug dealing rival. To make matters worse, the police eventually come-a-knockin’ on the cush-pushing cousin’s door, putting a severe crimp in the illegal activity. As the police move in, the newly-minted marijuana mover heads out and eventually seeks refuge with Maria Lucia (Isis Valverde), the daughter of a senator and Jeremias’ crush. The two fall in love, spurring the smitten João to abandon his life of crime. But their budding romance gets interrupted when the jilted Jeremias, along with his buddy Marco (Antonio Calloni), a corrupt detective, set their vengeful eye on João, beginning a war that ultimately leads to tragedy. The gritty film also leads us to a look at Fabrício Boliveira’s buns as he bangs his lady love in a scene of romance and love. Brazilian Western will have your hand going south down your pants!
