El rey de La Habana (2015)

Thanks to the magic of cinema, audiences can travel to Havana during the late 1990s via El rey de La Habana (2015). Also known as The King of Havana, the Spanish-Dominican melodrama uses a young man’s life as a means of exploring Cuba’s turmoil during its Special Period. Based on the same-named novel by Pedro Juan Gutiérrez, this foreign flick centers around a young man named Reynaldo (Maykol David Tortoló Cepeda). When he gets out of juvenile prison, he doesn’t have much. As such, he ends up finding food, shelter, and a lot of sex with Magda (Yordanka Ariosa). For her performance as an experienced prostitute, Yordanka won the Silver Shell for Best Actress at San Sebastián International Film Festival. Even though she plays a boisterous and brash woman who has known a lot of men over the years, she takes a particular liking to Rey. Of course, this may have something to do with the size of his package. During one intimate scene, we get a peek at the young man’s huge dong. Granted, the magnificent member owes its grandeur to CGI. Now, that’s what we call a special effect! Nevertheless, the sexy señor does expose his actual naked T&A throughout the movie. No wonder the pic picked up four Gaudí Awards for Best Cinematography (Josep Maria Civit), Best Editing (Raúl Román), Best Original Score (Joan Valent), and Best Costume Design (María Gil, Sonia Segura). Yet if it were up to Mr. Man, the film wouldn’t have any costumes at all!
