By now, MTV has long ditched the idea of being a television channel that plays music videos, or anything closely related. With their monetarily minded eye set on reality shows involving pregnant teens, clueless moms or college-aged kids becoming roommates and drinking alcohol in excess, they occasionally surprise their audience by producing a television show that isn’t of the vapid reality kind, such is the case with the thriller Eye Candy. Victoria Justice stars as Lindy, a twenty-one year old vigilante hacker, who moonlights as a detective of sorts, specializing in locating missing people. Well, she’s searching for her younger sister (Jordyn DiNatale), who got nabbed three years ago. All work and no play makes Lindy a dull girl, so thinks her roommate Sophia (Kiersey Clemons), who goads her into trying on-line dating. Aren’t you supposed to wait until you’re forty-years old and divorced to do this? Her romantic trip to cyberspace takes an unexpected turn when she discovers one of her potential suitors is a stalker, bent on the intent of killing her. Is it Peter the pediatrician, Reese the car importer, or Jake (Ryan Cooper) the Australian lawyer? Throw in a cop (Dan Lissing) who serves as a cock block and a love interest, and MTV has finally given us a show that doesn’t make us yell obscenities at the television screen. Well, you’ll be moaning obscenities when you see the gun slinging Dan Lissing minus his shirt, fresh from the shower, looking for love in all the right places. Looks like Lissing lives up to the title of the show!
