It might sound odd to say that Scottish cutie Hans Matheson is best known for his work in a number of period films and TV series, considering the periods depicted in each of those projects tend to differ drastically. Something about Hans’ look, though, suggests eras other than our own, whether it be the setting of Bramwell, the setting of Les Miserables (1998), the setting of Deathwatch (2002), the setting of Doctor Zhivago, the setting of Imperium: Nero (2004), the setting of The Tudors, the setting of 300: Rise of An Empire (2014), the setting of Jericho, etc. We’re partial to how well he fits into the setting of the mini-series adaptation Tess of the D’Urbervilles from 2008 ourselves, in which Hans plays Alec D’Urberville. In one scene, through a small hole in a door, we get to see a good deal of Hans’ body as he has a heated argument while first lying shirtless in bed and then eventually getting up while totally naked. One thing’s for certain: that body would be hot no matter where or when you put it in history.
