Lilies (1996)

Set in a Quebec prison in 1952, Lilies (1996) stars Marcel Sabourin as Jean Bilodeau, a local bishop who is asked to come to the prison to hear the confession of Simon Doucet (Aubert Pallascio), a dying inmate who grew up with Bilodeau. Instead of hearing the confession, the doting religious figure gets drawn into a play that Doucet has written, one that acts as a confession for Bilodeau. Set in the 1912, the play involves the relationship between Doucet (Matthew Ferguson) and a handsome dude named Vallier (Danny Gilmore). The young Bilodeau (Jason Cadieux) is jealous of their bond because he wants Doucet all to himself. Though with homophobia running wild, Doucet calms the fuck down and starts dating French Baroness, Lydie-Anne (Alexander Chapman). While courting the chick, the confused fellow can’t keep his mind off of Vallier, so the two makes plans to run away together. But their plans are foiled when tragedy strikes and Doucet finds himself behind bars.
