Skins (2017)

You may not be able to judge a book by its cover, but Mr. Man can tell whether a movie is worth watching just by its title. And our name is written all over Skins (2017) — not to be confused with the British teen drama Skins (2007-2008) featuring Daniel Kaluuya, Dev Patel, and Nicholas Hoult. Also known as Pieles, this Spanish flick weaves together several different stories, from the sad to the surreal. One is about Samantha (Ana Polvorosa), a woman with a butthole for a mouth and a mouth for a butthole. There’s also a vignette about Cristian (Eloi Costa), a young man who wants to become a mermaid. When he envisions his transformation, we get to see his chest and junk. In another trippy scene, he appears full frontal when his mother (Carmen Machi) pulls off his pants. No wonder the film nabbed a nod for the Best First Feature Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. If that’s not impressive enough, the movie was nominated for a Mr. Man Award for Most Perfect Peen! And that brings us to the erotic segment which focuses on Ernesto (Secun de la Rosa). He masturbates to a picture of his deformed girlfriend Ana (Candela Peña). As such, we are treated to a view of his balls and erect penis. Alas, Ana is screwing a guy named Guille (Jon Kortajarena). When Ernesto finds himself alone on the street, he meets Samantha and falls in love, proving there’s a lid for every pot!
