SubUrbia

SubUrbia (1996)

Great Nudity!

Review

Following the lives of several unmotivated early twenty-somethings hanging around a local convenient store in Woburn, Massachusetts, SubUrbia (1996) has director Richard Linklater delving right back into studying Generation X quandaries that he first explored in his 1991 film, Slackers. Giovani Ribisi stars as a directionless youth, unsure of his future or college or his girlfriend Sooze (Amey Carey) who dreams of being an artist, but isn’t doing much about it. His best buds are wacky guy Buff (Steve Zan) and alcoholic ex-military dude Tim (Nicky Katt). They all hang out in parking lots, talk a lot of smack, hold a grudge against their successful rock star friend, and contemplate their futures. Meanwhile viewers will be contemplating Ribisi’s drunken strip tease and cut throbby! We fancy ourselves city people, but with a dick that nice we’d gladly take a trip to suburbia for another look.
