Based on the Michael Crichton novel of the same name, the sci-fi flick The Andromeda Strain (1971) follows the comings and going of the citizens of Piedmont, New Mexico after a research satellite crashes and nearly wipes out the entire population of the small town. Nobel laureate Dr. Jeremy Stone (Arthur Hill) and surgeon Dr. Mark Hall (James Olson) are dropped by helicopter into the town to find and retrieve the fallen satellite. During their exploration they find two survivors—an older dude and an infant. They also find that the corpses’ blood has been turned to powder. With time running against them, the brave doctors-turned explorers enlist the help of fellow doctors—Charles Dutton (David Wayne) and Ruth Leavitt (Kate Reid)—to isolate and destroy the virus before it spreads across the country. In the process of decontamination, we get a gander at the backsides of Olson and Hill. Wow! What a thrill. These guys are sci-fine looking!
