Review

The British flick The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle (1980) purports to be a behind the scenes look at the life of the Sex Pistols and their "manager," whom they dub The Embezzler, played by Malcolm McLaren. All of the members of the band play thinly veiled versions of themselves, and sought to expose this man's plan to unleash a hoax on the world known as punk music in a plan to make millions of pounds. The film was directed by Julien Temple, who would go on to create the immortal Sex Pistols documentary The Filth and the Fury (2000), and is a fractured but funny look at the business world through the eyes of these legendary punk rockers. It's also got some phenomenal nudity, giving us a look at Malcolm McLaren's cock and balls, as well as Sid Vicious in a thong sporting a bulge, Steve Jones fully nude from the waist down twice, and a distant fully nude scene from Jones, Paul Cook, and Ronnie Biggs! By the end of this flick, you'll feel anything but swindled!
