The Slap (US) (2015)

You ready for some really bad television? Set in New York, the 2015 NBC mini-series The Slap stars Peter Sarsgaard and Thandi Newton as married couple Hector and Aisha. He’s a civil servant and she’s a doctor. He just got a promotion and she’s busy getting shit together at her new clinic, but she finds time to throw a 40th birthday party for him. Attending Hector’s bash are his annoying parents, Manilos and Koula (Brian Cox and Maria Tucci); hunky cousin Harry (Zachary Quinto) and his wife, Sandi (Marlin Ireland); friends Gary and Rosie (Thomas Sadoski and Melissa George) and their pain-in-the-ass kid, Hugo (Dylan Schombing), the one that receives the titular punishment. Oh, and let’s not forget the other guests: Anouk (Uma Thurman) and her boy-toy Jaime (Penn Badgley), babysitter Connie (Makenzie Leigh) and her buddy, Ritchie (Lucas Hedges). This is some birthday party! During the party, while Hector is flirting it up with the babysitter, the poorly behaved Hugo starts swinging a baseball bat at the other kids. An angry Harry confronts the lil’ slugger. Hugo kicks Harry, Harry slaps Hugo, and all hell breaks loose. And you change the channel, unless you want to see Peter Sarsgaard walking from the bedroom to the bathroom in his briefs. The Slap will make you fap!
