Director and choreographer Bob Fosse turned in this semi-autobiographical ego trip of a film about the final days of, well, an obsessed, amphetamine-popping, womanizing director and choreographer. All That Jazz (1979) stars Roy Scheider as Joe Gideon (aka Fosse’s alter ego), a hardworking, chain smoker that has a lot on his proverbial plate. While bouncing back and forth between his film roles and stage productions, Joe deals with his ex-wife Audrey (Leland Palmer), daughter Michelle (Erzsebet Foldi), current girlfriend Kate (Ann Reinking), along with a handful of mistresses. He even imagines a having an affair with Angelique (Jessica Lange), an angel of death. Burning the candle at both ends begins to creep up on Joe, and it’s only a matter of time before his heart ultimately puts a stop to his manic behaviors. You’ll be jazzing off when you steal a peek at Scheider’s oily, boxer short-clad physique while he receives a rub down. We also get a gander at Rob’s rump as it emerges through the crack of his hospital gown. Make you wish you had Roy for a toy!
