Becoming Jane (2007)

Jane Austen (Anne Hathaway) wasn’t always a famous British author.  She started out as a young woman who wanted to be a famous British author.  Her development as a writer and her relationship with egotistic Irish lawyer Thomas LeFroy (James McAvoy) are at the center of Becoming Jane (2007). Jane is a free thinking woman in a time when women were expected to follow convention.  When she is introduced to LeFroy she finds him repugnant, but the heart wants what it wants and their evolving love proves to be the skinspiration for Austen’s most enduring love stories.

There is a lot of courtship and old fashioned romance in this period drama, but we are treated to a little piece of man candy.  At one point LeFroy and Jane’s brother Henry (Joe Anderson) decide to beat the heat with a little skinny dipping.  We get to view their turn of the century rear ends from the point of view of Jane and a friend. The scene is so innocent, yet so naughty.
