Beyond the Sky (2006)

Many mysteries await beyond the sky — mostly because the popular phrase is used in many ways. In 2006, the band Quasi recorded the song “Beyond the Sky” on their When the Going Gets Dark album. Of course, that didn’t stop former Rubix Groove frontman and current solo singer Ryan Cabrera from forming a musical conglomerate called Beyond the Sky in 2015. Soon after, the American science fiction film Beyond the Sky (2018) was released. Perhaps the producers were unaware that there was already a Mexican movie entitled Beyond the Sky (2006). Also known as Fuera del cielo, Javier Patrón’s R rated flick focuses on the intertwined lives of various characters in Mexico City. At the center of the crime story are two brothers, Malboro (Demián Bichir) and Cucú (Armando Hernández). The siblings are close until Malboro gets arrested and is sent to prison for five years. While he’s serving time, Cucú begins boxing and starts to turn his life around with a promising career. Once Malboro is released, he tries to reconnect with his brother and his lost lover (Dolores Heredia). The only trouble is neither is sure of his motives. But we know what motivates us — and that’s seeing Demián and Armando in the buff! As such, the nude dudes have a conversation while soaping up in the shower. While ogling their wet abs and bare buns, you may be the one who needs a towel! Suffice it to say, these studly señors put the thrills into this thriller!
