Review

Originally airing on Showtime, Conviction (2002) is a drama based on the true story of Carl Upchurch, a former gang member who turns his life around while in jail and devotes himself to keeping kids from making the same mistakes he did. In this uplifting drama, Omar Epps plays Carl, who we first meet as a kid in Philly dealing with a very violent upbringing. In and out of prison since he was a teenager, Carl has a spiritual awakening behind bars. Going back to school and even graduating college, Carl decides that he doesn't want to get rich, he has to do whatever he can to keep kids out of prison, or worse. He comes up with the idea to bring the gang leaders of the area together to talk about a ceasefire in a church on neutral grounds. While that's a common practice today it was revolutionary when Upchurch created the concept entirely. Obviously ending gang violence is an uphill battle, but it was one Carl was willing to keep fighting until his death in 2003. Omar Epps should be arrested for hanging such impressive dong in one scene where he emerges from the prison showers naked. Check out the background and you'll be able to see some sausage from a few other inmates, but none of them are as hot as Omar. Eventually he wraps his body in a towel, but not before showing us a very legal amount of backsack and tip from behind. Mr. Man would love to get it on with that ex-con! Our conviction? Omar Epps is one fine piece trying to bring peace to the world in Conviction
