So many plays on the word pain, so little time… Mr. Man is, of course, talking about the Dan Payne of the acting world, who gives us much pleasure. The Canadian babe is a 6'4" tall drink of water who leaves us positively parched whenever he’s on the scene. Witness his appearance as Shay Lamden, aka King Shark, in a 2019 episode of The Flash, where he turns human when he flops on the dock, shirtless and dripping wet, and Mr. Man wants to know why a shark is wearing pants? (He digresses, but with a really good question, right?) Danny Boy is no stranger to the world of superheroes, having done pop-ups in Smallville in 2003, early on in his acting career. Before that, he was (and Mr. Man is totally serious) a professional volleyball player in Holland and a professional photographer in Australia before he launched his acting career in London, England. He moved back to his home country of Canada and began appearing on all sorts of TV shows shot in the north, as well as a variety of TV movies and feature films. A few notable roles include playing bit parts in both It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie (2002) and The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz (2005); starring as a Kull Warrior in both Stargate SG-1 from 2002-2005 and Stargate: Atlåntis from 2004-2008; playing Skip #6 in John Tucker Must Die (2006) (a can’t-miss classic featuring hot boys in tiny underpants); in the Watchmen (2009) movie as Dollar Bill; as Matthew Buckner in The Cabin in the Woods (2011); playing Beast in all of the Disney Channel Descendants movies (2015, 2017, 2019, 2021); and steady roles as John Dover in Good Witch in 2016 and Traeger in Mech-X4 from 2017-2018. No pain, no gain. Growing pains. Pain in the… Royal pain. On pain of. (Phew! Mr. Man was really holding on to those…)
