Review

Set in the beautiful and desolate Great Smoky Mountains, the psychological thriller Flight of the Cardinal (2010) follows Grady Wilson (Ross Beschler), a former aspiring actor that heads to North Carolina to purchase the Blue Waters Mountain Lodge. Running a lodge is no easy task, considering the ambitious dude is a bit off of his rocker—Grady is bi-polar and taking prescription pills to combat his depression. And life in the lonely wilderness certainly hasn’t helped much, so Grady is looking forward to a visit from his old friends: Karen (Clare Bouwerman), his old agent, and her boyfriend Rye (Jeremy Marr Williams). Also at the lodge is Andy (Matthew Montgomery), Grady’s estranged boyfriend. Grady is naïve to think that Andy is there to spend some quality time, but instead he’s there to end their relationship. To make matters worse, a young, homeless drifter Beetle Hobbs (David J. Bonner), shows up looking to work for some cash and a place to stay over the weekend. As film enthusiasts know, drifters usually bring nothing but trouble, which is the case with Beetle. It’s going to be one wild weekend, especially with Andy’s heartbreaking plans and Beetle’s eventual scheming.

If you’re looking for skin, David J. Bonner steals the show. In one amazing scene, Bonner nonchalantly strolls around the lodge in the buff, baring his slender and wet body, including some amazing full frontal. Matthew Montgomery does his best to heat things up, sporting an impressive bulge in his tight black undies while enjoying some pillow talk. Just when you couldn’t get enough beefcake, Jeremy Marr Williams flaunts his manly upper body while calling it a night with his wife. Mr. Man would prefer to follow the flight of the hardinal!
