Review

A haunted house, ghost stories, hallucinogens, nightmares and male flesh abound in Ken Russell’s delirious Gothic (1986). At a Swiss villa circa 1816, Lord Byron (Gabriel Byrne) promises his guests, poet Percy Shelley (Julian Sands), writer Mary Shelley (Natasha Richardson) and his personal physician Dr. John Polidori (Timothy Spall), a night of horrors. Over the course of the evening Mary dreams up her classic novel Frankenstein, while both Percy and Dr. Polidori bring bare ass to the table as they mysteriously lose their clothes on the Byron estate. Now that is one naughty haunted house, and we like it!
