I Know This Much is True (2020) is an HBO mini-series about a man struggling to care for his schizophrenic identical twin. But don't look for any sci-fi or thriller twist at the end. This is just a sad character study about a man trying to help someone so genetically similar to him, but struggling so much more than he could ever imagine. Based on perennial Oprah's Book Club favorite Wally Lamb's novel, Mark Ruffalo nabbed an Emmy for his work as both Dominick Birdsey and his troubled brother Thomas. Dominick is a pretty normal dude, but Thomas has a bad case of paranoid schizophrenia. Thomas' delusions have gotten so bad that at one point he goes to the library and cuts his own hand off, convinced it's the only way to stop the Gulf War. That incident lands Thomas in a brutal mental institution that Dominick becomes obsessed with getting him out of. That puts him at odds with social worker Lisa Sheffer (Rosie O'Donnell), and soon enough Dominick is going to have to spill the beans on why he feels so responsible for what happened to his brother. Want to see Mark's shaft? I know...you do! We watch him take a shower in which he shows his shaft and pubes when he asks his wife to take a look at his balls. Speaking of balls, his balls get a little beaten up, so we see polaroid shots of his bruised balls when he goes to the doctor. While those balls are prosthetics, Mark's hairy chest is all real and we KNOW that's true. In a flashback to the families' past, there's also Marcello Fonte going shirtless when he tears a woman's clothes off. She doesn't seem too into it. Tag us in, instead! Both Marcello and Mark Ruffalo are the kinds of dudes you'd want to do. I Know This Much is True
