Intimacy (2001)

Before Mark Rylance took audiences by surprise by taking home the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies (2015), he took his clothes off for the erotic drama Intimacy (2001). Based on stories by Hanif Kureishi, Patrice Chéreau’s skintastic flick centers around a bartender named Jay (Rylance) who leaves his family because his wife Susan (Susannah Harker) is no longer into him. While living alone in a decrepit house, Jay begins to have weekly sex with a strange woman (Kerry Fox). By strange, we mean she’s a stranger. Jay doesn’t even know her name! It’s kind of like Last Tango in Paris (1972) sans the glam. Initially, Jay and the lady’s affair is purely physical, but as it goes on he develops feelings for her. You’ll also be developing feelings in your jeans while watching the graphic sex scenes. Yes, Rylance is naked with a capital “N” throughout the entire movie. His chest, bush, buns, and erect mandangler are on full display as are his manberries. Watch as he gets ridden, rubbed and mouthed all for our viewing pleasure by an equally bare Ms. Fox. As you can see, the sex is quite explicit for a mainstream movie, featuring what appears to be actual insertion and a brief but steamy oral encounter. In other words, the two have un-simulated relations on camera! Let’s give three cheers to method acting. Suffice it to say, when it comes to Mark’s spark, this revealing role won’t leave flesh fans in the dark!
