Laurentia (2011)

Under the pen and direction of Mathieu Denis and Simon Lavoie comes the Canadian drama Laurentia (2011). Also known as Laurentie, this arthouse head scratcher centers around a young man named Louis Desprès (Emmanuel Shwartz) who lives in a hole in Montréal with no interests, friends, or dreams. Bored with his life, his job and his girlfriend Rosalie (Eugénie Beaudry), Louis’s only hobby is pornography and pleasuring himself. Hey, what’s wrong with that? After switching apartments, he discovers his neighbor Jay Kashyap (Jade Hassouné) is the exact opposite of him. The handsome chap is an optimistic people-person who loves his life and is an inspiration to others. As you can guess, Louis is initially suspicious and then becomes obsessed with Jay. But will Monsieur Desprès merely observe what he doesn’t have or will he make a change to better himself? More importantly, do we get to view full frontal nudity? Thankfully, the answer is oui! In fact, the flick begins with a bang. Shwartz shows off his schlong, balls and chest while having sex with his lady just one minute into the movie! Moments later, the skintastic actor reveals his erect rod while jerking off! Best of all, there are no cuts in this long take. So, that’s why Denis and Lavoie received the Best Director award at the Polar Lights Film Festival. If that’s not impressive enough, this provocative pic was named Best International Film at the Raindance Film Festival. Lord knows Emmanuel’s risqué role scored a statuette in our pants!
