Hunky actor Lyriq Bent is a Canadian by way of Jamaica, meaning that he’s a laid back dude who probably doesn’t lock the front door to his house. Annoyed? Offended? Shaking your head? In truth, Lyriq is a hard-working dude who graduated from college with high honors and began his professional life as a computer graphic technician. When he took up acting on a dare, he changed his trajectory and landed his first official on-screen role in a 2000 episode of Relic Hunter, playing one of Quelch’s guards. He’s been working steadily ever since, appearing in both Canadian and US productions. His first big TV job was as Leo Jetson in Angela’s Eyes in 2006, and he held the long-running role of Frank Best in Rookie Blue from 2010-2014. You’ll also find him in regular gigs as Chekura Tiano in the mini-series The Book of Negroes in 2015, where he was bare-chested; as Kevin Lutz in Shoot The Messenger in 2016; in the role of Frank in Mary Kills People in 2017; bare-assed and beautiful as Jamie Overstreet in the series version of She’s Gotta Have It from 2017-2019; rhythmically showing of his muscles with Anna Paquin while playing Paul in The Affair in 2019; as Joyce Boyle in Carter in 2019; Gordon Leighton in Delilah in 2021; and Garrett Carter in Long Slow Exhale in 2022. On the big screen, you may recognize him as Rigg in Saw II(2005), Saw III (2006), and Saw IV (2007); as well as the barber in Honey (2003) with Jessica Alba; Damian in Four Brothers (2005) with Mark Wahlberg; and as Robert in Tyler Perry’s Acrimony (2018) with Taraji P. Henson.
