Based on the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Peter Gent, a former wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, North Dallas Forty (1979) stars Nick Nolte as Phil Elliott, an aging wide receiver playing football for a professional, Dallas-based team. Wonder what team that could be? Though he is considered one of the best wide outs in the league, Elliott is struggling to perform and he begins relying more heavily on painkillers to hit the gridiron. Things don’t get any easier considering Elliott best bud, the hard-partying quarterback Seth Maxwell (Mac Davis) and the doofus defensive lineman Jo Bob Priddy (Bo Svenson) wants him to shut up and indulge in sex, drugs, and alcohol that apparently runs rampant in the league. The past-his-prime receiver just wants to play football, retire, and build a home with his girlfriend Charlotte (Dayle Haddon). Even with the pain, Elliott is fine on the field but his off-the-fields arguments with the coaches and the front office are sure to have him hanging up his spikes sooner than later.

Since much of the film takes place in the locker room, there’s plenty of nameless ass and muscle milling about. But Nick Nolte and Mac Davis team up to show a lot of ass and near nudity as they tend to the Sunday-delivered wounds. Hut, hut, hot!
