Before Roy Scheider became a major movie star, he served in the United States Air Force and was an amateur boxer with nine KOs. Well, that explains why he was such a knockout! Luckily, the New Jersey native hung up his gloves to pursue acting via the drama programs at Rutgers University and Franklin and Marshall College. After graduating, the late actor landed roles on CBS soaps (Love of Life, The Secret Storm) before moving on to movies, including the thriller Klute (1971) and the black comedy Sheila Levine Is Dead and Living in New York (1975). Although Roy was only 5’9”, he seemed taller on the big screen due to his commanding presence in authority roles. Scheider also played presidents in Executive Target (1997), The Peacekeeper (1997), and Chain of Command (2000). As Agent Levy in Marathon Man (1976), Roy uncovered his chest and bulging boxers!
