Starship Troopers (1997)

Dutch-born director Paul Verhoeven took a Robert Heinlein novel from the 1950's that many viewed as celebrating a futuristic fascist government led by a military dictatorship and flipped the entire idea on its head with his brilliantly satirical adaptation, Starship Troopers (1997). Taking place in the 23rd Century, the film's absurdly square-jawed protagonist is Johnny Rico (Casper Van Dien), a high schooler who wants to join the military so he can become a full citizen, which non-military Vets are not allowed to be. He's the big man on campus with the smart buddy (Neil Patrick Harris) and the hot girlfriend (Denise Richards), but when it's time to graduate and join up, his friends end up in high-ranking roles while Johnny is stuck in the infantry. After slogging through boot camp, he's about to quit when he hears that the bugs from another planet have blown up his hometown of Buenos Aires and gets sent into a berserker rage that will make him a tremendous soldier. Are the humans the good guys even though they're the invaders? Is it a bad sign that the infantry is recruiting children into their ranks? Why do those uniforms look so much like the ones the Axis' baddest baddies wore in World War II? Don't worry! After all, the critics sure didn't when they missed all the subversive elements of the film when it first came out. Telling the tale of a battle with extraterrestrial bugs intent on eradicating humans, Casper Van Dien, Anthony Ruivivar, Eric Bruskotter, Jake Busey, and Matt Levin take time out of their busy must-stay-alive day to enjoy a steamy shower. Would you like to know more? Of course you would! In the future all the genders shower together, since it's not just the dudes steaming off. Alongside some of the female hotties you'll find the beefy buns of Eric Bruskotter, ass and dong from Jake Busey, a bit of side dick from Matt Levin, and Anthony Ruivivar reviving mooning as a fun prank when Rico is on the camera phone. But no ass was tighter than Casper Van Dien's. Comically shredded, we see his pasty but tasty buns in the shower, as well as his abs when he's being whipped for making a mistake in boot camp. Sure, there's a fascist government and a war with smart hive insects, but how can you not want to live in the world of Starship Troopers after seeing all those awesome poopers?
