This flick out of Spain is bound to make your jaw and butt clench with how much it's able to drive home the tension of fascism in Franco's Spain in the 1930s when his coup d'tat became a grab for political power and control over all of the Iberian peninsula powerhouse country.  For the recently married tailor in a small town, Higinio (Antonio de la Torre), he decides the best plan to avoid getting caught up in the conflict is to hide out in his house with his new wife Rosa (Belén Cuesta) until things blow over or they can find a good time to flee to country.  Things become quite difficult for the newly weds though when an angry neighbor who blames Higinio for the death of his brother decides to finger him as a traitor to the new fascist regime, Higinio finds himself on the way to the political prisoner camp.  With a fluke situation while driving there, he escapes and flees back home to continue to hide.  The only problem is, Franco DOES take over the country and they have no idea when fascism will end or when they can escape.  It's especially hard when the neighbor keeps paying Rosa a visit to try and see if she knows about the whereabouts of her missing husband, who is right beneath the floorboards!  He's a man trapped in basement during a dark chapter in Spanish history.  Lucky for us though, they cast Antonio de la Torre and this tall, dark, and handsome Spaniard is just the guy you want to be stuck in a crawlspace with while waiting out a lengthy fascist regime to come to a close!  He shows it all to us and bad guy José Manuel Poga gives us a look at his bumper too!
