The Past is a Grotesque Animal (2014) is the typical concert flick that gives a personal, behind-the-scenes look at Kevin Barnes, the frontman of the bizarrely infectious indie-rock band Of Montreal. The film is fifteen years in the making, and with the help of a successful Kickstarter campaign, we get to see Barnes struggle with his personal relationships to push the boundaries of what it means to be an artist.
