Top of the Lake (2013-2017)

In 2013, Jane Campion: the "Best Original Screenplay" Academy Award winner for The Piano (1993), lent her pen to a thrilling Australian crime mystery called Top of the Lake. Lasting two seasons, Detective Robin Griffin (Elisabeth Moss) connected both seasons, with the first centered around who knocked up a twelve-year-old girl in Laketop, New Zealand, and the second taking place five years later when a dead Jane Doe is found on Bondi Beach. In season one, twelve-year-old Tui Mitcham (Jacqueline Joe) was five months pregnant when she suddenly disappeared from her small mountain town in New Zealand. Detective Robin Griffin (Elisabeth Moss) returns home to take up the case, hooks up with her old boyfriend (Thomas M. Wright) and finds that every clue draws her deeper into her own mysterious past which involves a story not so different from Tui's. While the "detective returns to their long-forgotten hometown to solve a crime" plot has been done a lot, in season two we get something different. That season finds Robin as a drunken mess who is obsessed with a daughter (Alice Englert) she gave up for adoption and the rich parents (Nicole Kidman and Ewen Leslie) who took her in. Now a teen, she's got a gross German boyfriend (David Dencik) and when a body washes up on Bondi Beach, Robin becomes convinced he was involved in the murder. Will she uncover the truth? Who cares when, speaking of uncovering things, Kip Chapman provides some glances at his butt, pubes, and near penis in two different fleshy scenes. Try not to end up chapped after watching him get naked and smoke weed or finding a hottie and doing the deed. Kip will have you solving the mystery of your aching loins! Ewen Leslie joins the party, showing bare ass and balls as he goes to hook up with Elisabeth Moss before donning his swim trunks for a dip! Meanwhile, Lincoln Vickery plays a horny gamer who wears a sexy pair of camo briefs to bang a woman named Cinnamon, while David Dencik shows off his bare ass on the bed. Kirin Callinan and Nicholas Ashley O'Connor give each other underwear-clad massages (yum) and Thomas M. Wright goes fully nude to have sex with Elisabeth Moss in the woods! Bedding Miss Moss on a bed of Moss? How appropriate. Top it off with Peter Mullan in a towel and Oscar Redding going shirtless in a sex scene of his own, and after watching both seasons of this one, you'll find yourself standing on top of a lake of your own body fluids!
