Today's B-Movie for B-Movie Boys is a more modern take on the old-school sci-fi genre with a perverted twist and male nudity to boot. We are going to take a look at Gregg Golding's comedic, low-budget sci-fi film from 2013 Cosplay Fetish Battle Drones!
If you've never heard of Cosplay Fetish Battle Drones, that's okay. It's basically like if Power Rangers fans grew up, did some drugs, got horny, and made this movie. That is all to say: it's definitely for adults only which is good news for Mr. Man readers. This little-known low-budget movie follows six different characters who have gone through traumatic experiences. Now they all have a tumor in their collective unconscious which they can call upon to draw energy from which makes them suit up like superheroes. When they do this they become a crime-fighting - or trauma fighting - squad known as the Struggled Reagans.
This movie draws upon Japanese creature features and live-action dramas, known as Tokusatsu, for inspiration. Tokasatsu were science fiction films that used cheap, but epic effects. Famous movies include Godzilla, Warning from Space, Invasion of the Neptune Men, and Ultra Q as well as Ultraman. This movie uses that kind of imagery in an effective and humorous way to convey this big picture idea of fighting one's trauma. That's cute, obviously, but what this movie has that those don't is sexy naked men!
Kawal Arora does a lot of bending over and showing his butthole to people in the movie. He has one super ass! Warning: some scenes can be a little graphic in this movie like when Kawal Arora has a broomstick shoved up his ass. Before we see that, we do get a good look at his bent-over butt!

This movie had very little fanfare or notice on its release. It premiered under its original title Struggled Reagans at San Francisco's Another Hole in the Head International Genre Film Festival in 2013. Wow, what a hyper-specific festival that is! After that, it was screened at the Sci-Fi London film festival in 2014 and released the following year on DVD. You can find it on Amazon, but it's otherwise a very low-key film. The writer and director made another film in 2017 called 001 Trolling that is nothing like this film and it is definitely lacking in male nudity. I definitely hope that Golding decides to go back to making movies because his take and style are quite unique. This movie stands out from other low-budget flicks because it feels like it actually has a nuanced message and it's being told in a fun way. So I hope he comes back and that he does some more dudity in the near future!
