It's time for more Foreign Film Friday and this Friday we are going to go on a science fiction adventure with one of the absolutely strangest foreign films to come out in the last year. Let's take a look at the 2020 South African alien adventure Fried Barry. Warning: this movie is not for the faint of heart. I'm not being cute. I mean that! Okay, carry on.
This Ryan Kruger film is WILD. It is a gross-out film that is filled with body horror, so be warned that this movie is in no way explicitly sexy. It is for those with that kind of taste. The plot follows a man named Barry, played by Gary Green, who spends most of his time getting drunk and high. He is a pretty neglectful father and husband whose primary concern is where to score more drugs. Real loser type. Everything changes when he is shooting up and an alien comes down to Earth and inhabits his body. Been there, done that, right guys? Now the alien-infested Barry wanders through Cape Town nightlife, partying as usual but being an alien while doing it...which has some crazy results.
In one scene, he has sex with a woman and immediately impregnates her. She then gives birth to the alien baby right there in front of all of us. In another scene, an alien probes him through his erect penis. It is a prosthetic - even though we all now know that aliens are real - but if you like wanting this kind of needle play then this scene is for you.
