Historically, Netflix has avoided releasing its viewership numbers. Hell, they've been downright weird about it. Why don't they want us to know how shows and movies do on the famous app? Back in the day, they included user reviews on movies and TV shows, but those are long gone, too. Netflix likes its viewers to be in the dark - but that has included industry, too.
After the writer and actor strike this year, it was clear that people in the industry have no idea how their shows are faring on the app either. That means no one knows if they should be paid more for having a wildly popular show. So, Netflix finally did it. They finally released their viewership numbers. And the results are surprising.
That is, the results are surprising if you don't love male nudity like we do! The top original show of 2023? The Night Agent.
In their blog post entitled The What We Watched report, Netflix says they will now release a list like this twice a year. That's helpful! That will help us all track the popularity and longevity of shows for sure.
800,000 million viewers around the globe watched The Night Agent. Shawn Ryan adapted this mystery series from a popular book by Matthew Quirk of the same name. It's sort of like 24 in which an agent has to rush against the clock to take down a seedy terrorist group before they launch an attack. Grabiel Basso plays an FBI agent who has to protect a CEO from threats against her family while also detecting a Russian spy in the government. All in a day's work, right?
Gabriel Basso is a sexy man. With his shirtless scenes, he had us all admiring his chiseled body. No wonder he is a powerful secret agent - his body has worked out for the sole purpose of taking down enemies and protecting powerful people. I'd love to hire him as my bodyguard. Or, rather, I'd prefer to guard HIS body.
Andre Anthony is his co-star who shows his round rump when he gets out of the shower. Ooooooh, so THAT'S why everyone was watching The Night Agent. They were all trying to see that ass. Can you blame them?
The Night Watch wasn't the only popular series. Other series include The Diplomat, Alpha Males, The Glory, and Beef. It is worth mentioning that those shows also feature male nudity. I'm no data analyst, but the results seem to suggest that viewers love ogling sexy men on camera!
