When is the last time you heard the name 'Pauly Shore'? How about the name 'Richard Simmons'? Now have you ever heard those two names uttered in the same sentence? I bet not and I bet you never thought you would. Well, today is the day. According to several news outlets, there is going to be a Richard Simmons biopic and Pauly Shore is allegedly going to play the fitness guru. Is this real? Let's get into it!
A few years ago there was a popular podcast called Missing Richard Simmons. The short, one-season podcast follows an obsessed journalist who is trying to track down the fitness celebrity who used to be everywhere and is now seemingly nowhere. At the time of the podcast's release, he was last seen in February 2014 and even stopped teaching his fitness classes at his gym.
The podcast wanted to know why, but it didn't go anywhere. There was nothing nefarious. Ultimately, Simmons has chosen to be reclusive later in life. He insisted that he just wanted to be left alone and he has maintained that stance ever since. Essentially, he wants to live a quiet and retired life free of sweating and yelling during intense aerobic exercises. I can't blame him! That would tire me out, too.
And Simmons STILL insists that. Richard Simmons responded to the biopic news with that exact same sentiment. According to The AV Club, Simmons took some time before even noticing this movie was being made which also implies that no one talked to him about it when it was being developed.
Richard Simmons took to his Facebook page to write: “You may have heard they may be doing a movie about me with Pauly Shore. I have never given my permission for this movie. So don’t believe everything you read. I no longer have a manager, and I no longer have a publicist. I just try to live a quiet life and be peaceful. Thank you for all your love and support.”
Can we let the man live? Well, it doesn't sound like Pauly Shore will. Pauly Shore said he'll do it because "fuck it - work is work." I will say Shore is an interesting call. He has also been out of the spotlight for quite a while, but when he was in the spotlight back in the 90s he did go nude.
The comedian and actor showed his ass a few times. He went nude in the 1993 classic Son in Law. He was the sexiest son-in-law ever when he showed his booty while wearing assless chaps. Those chaps look full of ass!
