What I am about to say to all of you is not a lie. It is not fan fiction. It is a truthful reality! So, listen up: Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke are about to play gay cowboy lovers in Pedro Almodovar's Western soap film called Strange Way of Life. It's true! These two hotties are about to get their chaps on and get wonderfully gay for everyone's favorite campy queer director, Pedro Almodovar. Girlies. Let's go.
The plot follows Sheriff Jake played by Ethan Hawke who reunites with his former friend and lover Silva played by Pedro Pascal. They reunite to investigate a murder, but they also rekindle their rocky relationship. This film is said to have it all: love, sex, over-the-top soap opera acting, gorgeous and sumptuous visual palettes, and hot men.
Not only do I love that Almodovar is finally making a western the way that he wanted to make it (more on that below), but I am thrilled that the actors are total zaddy sex symbols. Yes, these men are mature silver foxes, but young actors such as Elite's Manu Rios are also starring in the film.
You know that we love Elite and all of the hot gay, nude scenes that Manu himself has delivered on the sexy Spanish Netflix series. I am thrilled for him to get the Pedro Almodovar treatment as a hot young actor! Bravo, Manu!
Hey, you don't have to say anything more to get my ass in the movie theater to see this flick. In fact, I feel like waiting in line for my seat NOW. It is premiering at Cannes in May (so, no, I guess I won't be going), so let's keep our eyes open for news relating to how the sex and nudity in the movie.

This is the director's second English-language feature. According to the trailer, it is about to have everything. I'm getting notes of Brokeback Mountain meets John Waters' Polyester here. Am I the only one? If anything, this makes me wonder if we will see more English-language Almodovar. I definitely hope so, but I will always read subtitles for Almodovar. He rarely disappoints!
Fans of gay cowboy flicks - of which there are quite a few - might remember that Pedro Almodovar was offered to direct Brokeback Mountain. He did not want to direct it because he feared that Hollywood would not let him make the film as gay as he wanted to or even as gay as he felt the story deserved. He was probably right! Brokeback Mountain was sexy for its time, but it certainly was lacking on male nudity and real sex scenes between the two lovers played by Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal are two actors who also rarely disappoint. If anything, Pedro is on top of the world at the moment! That is why I am especially thrilled he is doing this film. He's such a #ally and he doesn't care that he's getting the Disney treatment. He's still down to get gay! Hooray!
