Our Staff Picks column is a new addition that takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version has a decidedly nude angle, as we suss out which films from a certain genre with great nudity. This week: films from Hong Kong!
Hong Kongers - or Hong Kongese - are a little more relaxed as a culture than mainland China and that is really evident in their films. Films from Hong Kong seem to have a little more male nudity than one might expect! In fact, now I've come to expect nudity in films from Hong Kong.
Amphetamine
This classic gay film wrestles with love and drug use when a gay Australian banker played by Thomas Price starts working in Hong Kong. There he meets a straight swim teacher played by Byron Pang. Well, "straight". The two of them fall in love, but Byron's drug use threatens to be a problem for the very different men.
This movie has delicious nude scenes! Byron and Thomas shower together, hot tub together, and lay in bed in the buff together. We see cock and balls from both men (see what I mean about movies from Hong Kong?). Plus both of them are beautiful! Byron's bod in particular is extra tasty in his many full-frontal shots.
City without Baseball
This Hong Kong sports movie is about the real Hong Kong Baseball Team and it even stars some actual baseball players. Set in 2004, this movie takes a look at a burgeoning baseball team in a city where baseball just isn't popular. The men explore their love of the sport, their friendships, and even some sex! The movie even opens up on a locker room scene where the men are showering together. Hubba Hubba:
There is a great scene on the beach where Ron Heung takes it all off and jumps into the water with his female lover. Between that and the opening scene - and several ass-out scenes in between - these boys have me wanting to play ball...play with their balls!
The Taste of Betel Nut
Would you like to nut to sexy men loving on each other and showing their buns? Then Betel Nut is for you! The plot follows two polyamorous men who are in a relationship together. They invite a female friend to join their relationship which gives them something new to explore. The three of them navigate new dynamics and feel freer than ever while also inviting criticism from friends and family.
Bingrui Zhao and Shen Shi Yu play the men in question and both of them let us see how much fun they are having. Bingrui Zhao goes naked in two scenes where he shows his ass and he even engages in a threesome with Shen Shi Yu. If only we could have a taste of their Betel Nut!
End of Love
Speaking of gay things, Simon Chung directed the 2009 film End of Love which focuses on two men in love. A young man played by Lee Chi-Kin is sent to a Christian rehabilitation camp. Yes, it's a pray-the-gay-away type of place. Ugh! I know, I hate it. However, while he is there he obviously gets together with Alex Wong. They make out on the beach and they make love in their bunks. There is no cock in this movie, but there is ass.
Voyage
This 2013 drama is a little bit trippy as it stars Sebastian Castro as a psychiatrist who is dealing with his own trauma. He takes a trip through South East Asia and we go along on his Voyage.
There is a lot more dick where that comes from. Haze Leung gets jacked off by an older later and Teddy Rupp shows us his rump when he walks around naked in his apartment. Even Byron Pang returns to go full frontal. There is A LOT of nudity in this movie.
PLUS the very foxy Ryo van Kooten rolls around in the sand with Chan Than San, showing booty and balls from both men. That's a really fun scene to watch because a lot is shown in it, but there are SO many nude scenes in this movie. Almost every man in this movie shows some skin, so it is very worth watching for fans of dudity and sexy Asian men. Voyage really does take you on one!
