So that's what happened in real life and the series definitely delves into all of that, but if you had no idea that this series was based on that story, then you would be SHOCKED at the turn of events. That is because the story begins quite sweetly, setting up Italian youth in the 1970s in a dreamy and nearly-innocent way.
