Tall, dark and handsome, Northern Ireland native Ciarán Hinds trained at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After making his feature film debut in John Boorman’s Excalibur (1981), the 6’1” thespian married his The Mahabharata (1987) co-star Hélène Patarot. On screen, Ciarán wooed the leads in Jane Austen’s Persuasion (1995) and Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre (1997). Since then, Mr. Hinds could be seen in the 2008 comedies In Bruges and Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, and heard in the animated movies Frozen (2013) and Frozen II (2019). Through the years, Ciarán appeared on stage (The Crucible, Hamlet); on film (Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, Road to Perdition); and on TV (Above Suspicion, Game of Thrones). In Steven Spielberg’s Munich (2005), Hinds goes all out by going full frontal as a stiff in bed. His post-mortem package proves Ciarán is dead sexy! Although clothed, the hardworking hottie continued to sizzle in Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood (2007); Noah Baumbach’s Margot at the Wedding (2007); J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011); Damien Chazelle’s First Man (2018), and Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast (2021) for which he nabbed a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination! The esteemed performer also picked up Irish Film and Television Awards for his portrayals of Julius Caesar in Rome (2006) and Thomas Hardy’s titular character in The Mayor of Casterbridge (2004). Of course, Ciarán won us over with his ass-flashing part in Getting Hurt (1998). Or should we say, Getting Hard?
