Buscando el norte (2016)

Moving to a new place can be a challenge when cultural differences abound. Such is the setup for The Beverly Hillbillies (1962-1971), Green Acres (1965-1971), Northern Exposure (1990-1995), Schitt’s Creek (2015-2020) and Emily In Paris (2020-present). The same can be said for the Spanish sitcom Buscando el norte (2016). Also known as Looking north, this “fish out of water” comedy follows a pair of siblings who move from Spain to Germany to gain work experience as they pursue their passions. There’s only one problem — they can’t speak a word of German! Nevertheless, nurse Álex (Antonio Velázquez) and graphic designer Carol (Belén Cuesta) pack up their bags and head for Berlin. As they settle into their new digs, the two encounter Anke (Gillian Apter), Jürgen (Daniel Horvath) and Ulrike (Kimberley Tell). The romp also includes Bárbara Santa-Cruz, Goizalde Núñez, Jorge Bosch, Manuel Burque, and Señor Velázquez’s skin! In episode 2, Antonio flashes his abs, ass and shaft for a video chat! Not to be outdone, Roberto (Luis Zahera) struts his stuff in the buff in episode 3. By episode 4, Arturo (Jesús Carroza) bulges out of his panties until he takes them off, revealing his ripe rump! With episode titles like “Germans are from Mars and Spanish are from Venus,” you know you’re in for some laughs. Of course, that doesn’t mean the sitcom can’t also be sexy. In other words, instead of pulling your leg, you’ll be pulling another part of your body while ogling the flesh flashed on this show!
