Following in the fateful footsteps of Brad Renfro, Brandon Lee, Cameron Boyce, Heath Ledger, James Dean, and River Phoenix, is Australian actor Daniel Pollock who also passed away when he was in his twenties. Like the American comedian Freddie Prinze, who took his own life at 22 years of age, Dan was 23 when he committed suicide. Fortunately for us, the saucy Aussie leaves behind a legacy of performances on film (Boys in the Island) and TV (Kelly, The Magistrate). After nabbing a part in Salt, Saliva, Sperm and Sweat (1988), it made sense that Dan would be cast in a film called Lover Boy (1989). Yet for much of his career, the lanky lad landed parts in crime comedies such as Nirvana Street Murder (1990) with Ben Mendelsohn and Death in Brunswick (1990) with Sam Neill. Daniel also exposed his… sense of humor in the award-winning romantic comedy Proof (1991). But if you really want proof of the actor’s appeal, then check out his revealing role in Romper Stomper (1992). Geoffrey Wright’s skinhead drama features Russell Crowe, Jacqueline McKenzie, Tony Le-Nguyen, Colin Chin, and Dan’s bulging briefs. If that’s not hot enough, the hottie flashes his back, balls and butt during a hump! Alas, this would be Mr. Pollock’s final film role. Suffering from depression and addiction, Daniel jumped in front of a train in Sydney. Co-star Crowe and his band 30 Odd Foot of Grunts wrote “The Night That Davey Hit the Train” in the late actor’s honor. Encore, encore!
