When it comes to Garry Shandling, Mr. Man must paraphrase the saying, “only the good die young” to “only the good-humored.” That’s because the actor (Iron Man 2), comedian (Garry Shandling: Alone in Vegas), host (35th Annual Grammy Awards), guest (The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson), and writer (Welcome Back, Kotter) left this Earth when he was just 66 years of age. During his career, the Windy City native blew audiences away with his unique sense of humor. Garry is best known for coming into fans’ homes via his TV comedies It’s Garry Shandling’s Show (1986-1990) on FOX and HBO’s Primetime Emmy Award-winning series The Larry Sanders Show (1992-1998). Through the years, Garry lent his talents to the silver screen — from playing himself in cameos (Zoolander, Run Ronnie Run! ) to voicing animated roles in Dolittle (1998), Over the Hedge (2006), and The Jungle Book (2016). Mr. Shandling also appeared alongside Warren Beatty in the romantic drama Love Affair (1994) with Katharine Hepburn and the rom-com Town & Country (2001) with Diane Keaton, Josh Hartnett, Charlton Heston, Goldie Hawn, and Andie MacDowell. With that cast, it’s no wonder the film was over budget! Of course, we prefer Shandling’s shirtless turn in What Planet Are You From? (2000). Directed by Mike Nichols, the sci-fi comedy features Annette Bening, Linda Fiorentino, John Goodman, Ben Kingsley, Greg Kinnear, and Garry’s gorgeous glutes! When the funnyman drops his towel to tout his hairy chest and nude booty, we’re guessing his character must be from Uranus!
