Biography

While most Hawaiians fall in love with surfing, the imposing hunk from Hilo, Gerald Okamura preferred kicking butt to riding the waves. He started with judo, but eventually trained in kendo, aikido, taekwondo and Kung Fu. Since the UFC wasn't a thing yet, Gerald turned his love and knowledge of martial arts into a successful movie career. In addition to doing stunts, he started off with some small roles as stuff like a thug, bouncer or a ruffian in movies like the James Caan action flick The Killer Elite (1975), the Chuck Norris karate flick The Octagon (1980), and the bullied high schoolers become ninjas movie Ninja Busters (1984). He even had a small role in the legendary John Carpenter homage to martial arts movies Big Trouble in Little China (1986). Okay, so Gerald isn’t going to win an Academy Award for his acting skills, but with his black belt toned bod, he sure knows how to thrill and kick his way into our hearts. The bald and beautiful judo master really wowed us when he stripped down to his underwear to get closer to a chick in the action flick Samurai Cop (1991). A pretty basic martial arts flick, this one blew up when clips started circulating on the internet and everyone made fun of them. But nobody was laughing at the look of the beefy bald villain Okamura, who we see making out with a woman while in a Speedo. We’d like to cop a feel of that samurai! Gerald was in a ton of bad karate flicks, but did appear in some good stuff like Hot Shots! Part Deux (1993), Mortal Kombat (1995), Blade (1998). G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009) and a few episodes of Kickin' It. But since the internet made so many memes out of the OG Samurai Cop, they ended up making a sequel he starred in called Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance (2015). Unfortunately, Gerald didn't squeeze back into his Speedos. Gerald is still acting, most recently popping up in a few episodes of Immortal Hands. We don't know martial arts, but we wish we did. Talk about hard sparring, we couldn't keep our hands off Gerald Okamura!
