Biography

It may seem like James Coburn came out of nowhere when he played Britt in the now legendary movie The Magnificent Seven (1960), but the Nebraska native studied acting (in Los Angeles and New York) and landed small roles on TV shows (The Rifleman, The Rough Riders, Wagon Train) and movies (Face of a Fugitive, Ride Lonesome) before scoring his big break. During his successful career, Coburn burned up the silver screen alongside Steve McQueen in The Great Escape (1963); Cary Grant in Charade (1963); and Charles Bronson in Hard Times (1975). He also appeared in the Sam Peckinpah flicks Major Dundee (1965), Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1973), and Cross of Iron (1977). If that’s not entertaining enough, James exposed his… sense of humor in the James Bond parodies Our Man Flint (1966) and In Like Flint (1967). In 1973, the hip hunk could be seen on the cover of the Paul McCartney and Wings album Band on the Run. A decade later, James received an Emmy nomination for producing the miniseries The Mists of Avalon (1983). He eventually took home a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Paul Schrader’s drama Affliction (1997). But Mr. Coburn really won Mr. Man over with his revealing role in Bite the Bullet (1975). The Western features Gene Hackman, Candice Bergen, Jan-Michael Vincent, and James’s 6’2” frame. While relaxing in a tub, the topless hottie lets us peek at his wet pecs! Although Coburn passed away, his work still displays low-key coolness and effortless sexuality.
