Jason Momoa Shirtless Is the Only Thing That Makes Sense in this New Trailer and I Love It

Jason Momoa

It's like playing MadLibs, but with lots of sexy men. I, obviously, am down without needing to know more, but I understand some of you have far more discerning taste in plotline and I don't know, rationality.

Let's start with the most important bits: The movie stars Jason Momoa, man of the year, as Miami Man and was written and directed by Ana Lily Amirpour, who is responsible for the brilliant indie film A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night. After watching the beautiful but immensely confusing trailer, I imagine you have a few questions. Let's see if I can answer them:

Where in god's name are these people?

Well, I'm glad you asked. They are somewhere in Texas, though a sign at the beginning of the trailer lets us know that it's not a part of the United States and is not governed or looked after in any way, shape, or form.

The Bad Batch

They're also near a fence by the U.S./Mexico border, which should give you a good idea of how far south they are.

Why in god's name are they there?

Another good question. This isn't "dystopian" in the sense that the world has ended; it's a walled-off wasteland that bars all inhabitants from civilized society and all the perks that go with it (i.e. grocery stores, laws, Starbucks). People are dumped there by law enforcement when they're deemed unfit for society. That's a pretty big bummer.

What's with the cannibals? Does Jason Momoa eat people?

Well, yes, he does, because there is a major shortage of any growable food or reliable game in this particular region of the country. He's a member of the titular Bad Batch, a cannibalistic, cult-like group of outcasts that raid the rest of the wasteland for, er, people, body build like Schwarzenegger, and have these massive, trippy, rave-y parties all led by one very strange Keanu Reeves. It's a lot, I know. It also looks kind of fun, minus the fact that you can't leave and people want to eat you.

Jason Momoa

Does Jason throw axes in this movie?

Of course! I mean, look at those back muscles! It would be a waste for him not to!

Who's the blonde chick?

That's Arlen, played by Suki Waterhouse. She gets dropped off in the Desert of Doom and is picked up in a golf cart by the cannibal crew. Very unfortunate. But she gets to hang out with Miami Man a lot, so that's a win.

Anyways, the film hits theaters on June 23, so buckle up. If you can't wait that long for some mo' Momoa (I'm sorry, I had to), don't fret - there are plenty of other ways to get your fix
