You’ve got to have character to be a character actor. Luckily for us, Jeff Doucette oozes personality (and we assume other things). After graduating from Northern Illinois University, the Milwaukee man tried his hand at improvisational comedy via Chicago’s Second City Touring Company. With his comedy partner Ernst Emling, the amusing dude moved to Hollywood to make audiences laugh on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1977). During the 1980s and ’90s, Jeff could be seen on several sitcoms (ALF, Bosom Buddies, Coach, Night Court, 3rd Rock from the Sun, That ’70s Show, Weird Science) and heard on animated shows (Bobby’s World, I Am Weasel). Couch potatoes will know Doucette as Harley Estin from Newhart (1984-1988), Burns from Alien Nation (1989-1990), and Steve Baker from Townies (1996). If that’s not entertaining enough, Jeff also lent his talents to the big screen. Movie goers may recognize the funny guy from such films as Splash (1984) with Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah; Mom and Dad Save the World (1992) with Jon Lovitz; and Bedazzled (2000) with Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley. Of course, Mr. Man was more turned on Mr. Doucette’s topless turn in the racy romp Fairy Tales.(1978). The R rated sex comedy features Don Sparks, Irwin Corey, Martha Reeves, and Jeff’s naked chest! Too bad the flick didn’t deliver Fairy Tails too. Nevertheless, Jeff’s work on stage (Rage, or I’ll Be Home For Christmas), on film (Love Letters), and on TV (Beverly Hills 90210) proves he’s got a very long … résumé!
